GTXE Concept.

The GTXE is typical XRAY – premium, professional, high-competition RC car for the most demanding racers, developed with attention to detail and backed by premium service & support…a luxury masterpiece.

Philosophy.

With XRAY's uncompromising design philosophy bringing everything together to make the best GT electric car, the GTXE has the unique XRAY character, born of precision craftsmanship, highest attention to detail, and using only the finest quality materials.

Chassis.

The rear section of the chassis was reinforced for less flex on-power, which increases the stability of the car and ensures more on-power control.

The chassis is CNC-machined from 3mm high-quality Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum, strategically machined in low-stress areas, and then anodized to make it as light as possible without affecting strength or rigidity.

C-hub Suspension.

All-new front C-hub concept was redesigned and refined especially for GT platform. The GT C-hub suspension improves steering characteristics on and off-power and helps to reduce tire wear. The caster is now easily adjustable by changing bushings in the suspension arm.

The C-hub suspension features C-hubs with preset 16° caster as a great starting point for every track.

Shock Towers.

To accommodate the new GT C-hub suspension, the front shock tower was redesigned.

Machined from extra-thick premium-grade graphite, both shock towers are light weight and very strong. Front and rear shock towers include multiple shock positions as well as multiple roll center positions.

Shocks Absorbers.

Longer front & rear shock shafts are now +3mm longer for increased set-up possibilities and to allow more suspension travel.

The shock caps feature 4 bleed holes for easier building and more precise rebound control. Multiple shock membrane choices are available to tune the suspension to a wide variety of track conditions.

Oversized big-bore shocks featuring 16.2mm I.D. shock bodies are externally threaded with an adjustable collar for quick & easy spring preload adjustment. The shock bodies are hardcoated in a titanium color and feature a 1-piece alu shock cap.

Pinion Gear.

To improve drive train efficiency, the 13T pinion gears are now included for both front and rear bulkheads. Thanks to the higher 3.54:1 internal ratio, vehicle acceleration has also been improved.

Hex Hubs.

To accommodate the new suspension geometry, the kit now includes +2mm off-set both front and rear.

Ultra-lightweight 17mm wheel hex drive hubs are CNC-machined from Swiss 7075 T6 black-coated aluminum.

The alu hex hubs are specially machined to reduce rotating weight while guaranteeing wobble-free wheel mounting.

Ball-Bearings.

The drivetrain ball-bearings are now greased instead of oiled to maximize the lifespan of the ball-bearings, especially in dusty conditions. For increased reliability, the front and rear transmission ball-bearings as well the center solid shaft ball-bearings feature metal shields.

Heritage.

I designed and hand-made my first off-road cars back in 1986, and they were dominating the races thanks to unbeatable reliability and superior performance. Years later in 2004 we debuted our first mass production XRAY XB8 platform based on our long-term experiences, knowledge, and R&D expertise gained over decades, taking over the heritage I brought with me.

Using the XB8E and GTX8 platforms, we worked with the XRAY R&D team to create the finest, highest-performing GT electric car.  I am happy that we carried forward the legacy of my first off-road car into this new platform… one that can take you to the Winners Circle.

Design.

Designed in virtual reality using the world's most sophisticated CAD tools and manufactured using the world's best machining and molding technology, the GTXE is second to none amongst GT electric cars. All parts are purpose-designed and manufactured by XRAY, so everything fits and works perfectly together.

Experience.

Before I started racing off-road cars, I was actively professionally racing 1/5 scale on-road cars and I won 2x a European Championship. In my position as R&D Designer at XRAY, I was very happy to be involved again with an on-road project where I could bring my prior experience to the table.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my involvement in this new GT project, and I strongly believe this class will rapidly gain popularity due to its simplicity, easy handling, and great fun. I will continue to support the ongoing development of this new platform, and will be available to support all XRAY customers.

Development.

The GTXE project follows a typical development progress at XRAY: 3D models were first printed & tested, and after successful test results the production moulds were machined. To ensure perfect fitment of all parts, all pieces are individually tested during the development phase and then are tested on track to ensure maximum reliability and performance.

Made in Europe.

Designed, developed, and fully manufactured in-house at the XRAY factory in Slovakia, Europe, using the most high-tech German & Swiss machines and premium European materials, crafted with XRAY's legendary attention to detail by our artistic production specialists. The GTXE is truly a masterpiece.

Some information shown below may include details from previous kits, and it may vary slightly from current kit specifications.

Chassis Brace.

Front and rear chassis braces have significant influence on chassis stiffness and flex, and as such have a great impact on handling under different grip conditions.

The longer rear brace is moulded from a medium-stiff composite mixture for proper flex & rigidity, and allows the mounting of optional graphite inserts to reinforce the brace to make it even stiffer (suitable for high-traction conditions).

Battery Plate.

The battery plate design allows to move battery more frontwards or rearwards, giving significant influence on weight balance adjustment.

The rear of the plate has a dedicated area for speed controller placement. Velcro® strips are included for quick & easy battery mounting.

Bulkheads.

Diff bulkheads are an important chassis component, housing both the front and rear differentials and providing mounting points for the suspension mounts and shock towers.

The diff bulkheads have been designed for extreme durability, while providing easy access for tuning and maintenance.

I.S.S.™ Suspension Holders.

The aluminum suspension holders feature Integrated Suspension Settings™ (I.S.S.) which allow for quick & easy suspension geometry setting.

Using eccentric suspension bushings inserted into aluminum suspension holders – as well as additional suspension shims – the GTX8 suspension geometry can be completely adjusted in mere seconds.

Suspension Holders.

The narrow rear suspension holders work together with the longer rear arms to improve overall grip, forward traction and allow earlier acceleration at corner exit.

Rear Uprights.

The rear uprights feature larger outer 8x16x5mm ball-bearings for increased reliability and life-span. To expand the set-up alternatives, an additional lower roll-center adjustment position was added.

The smart design allows the same upright to be used on both left & right sides. The wheelbase position is adjustable using 2 shims along the lower suspension pin.

The rear uprights feature integrated geometry adjustments including: camber, upper and lower roll center and wheelbase.

Rear Camber Link.

The longer camber link accommodates the revised roll center positions on the new uprights.
